Time flies when you’re having fun, doesn’t it?! Isn’t that what they say? A whole year has flown by once again. I feel like the older I get, the faster the days go by and before we know it, we’re 85 years old and look back on our lives and how quickly they really went. I’ve recently realized that I’m so fortunate and lucky to do what I LOVE for a profession. A lot of people work a 9-5 job, make a decent living, but they’re miserable at their place of employment. The older I grow, the more I realize that happiness is KEY to life. Money can buy a lot of things, but one thing it can’t buy is HAPPINESS.
Happiness to me is spending time with the people who mean the most to me and who surround me with love and positivity. If the people in your life don’t bring these things to the table, rid them from your life. Experts say the 5 people you hang out with the most influence your mindset and happiness! Make those 5 people the best 5 candidates as possible! Happiness is snuggling with my dog in the freshly cut grass. Happiness is being on the road and photographing my journey. Happiness is working hard and feeling fulfilled. Happiness is a ton of ice cream, that will eventually make me sick, but totally worth it. Happiness is riding a motorcycle. There is literally NOTHING like it. Being able to put your feet down and touch the Earth at 65mph is the most invigorating thing on the planet for me. Happiness is seeing my Daddy (my KING!) recover from a 6 bypass open heart surgery. Happiness is writing letters to people in my life who love getting mail. Happiness is being a GOOD person, doing and knowing what’s right and striving to be better every single day. Lastly, happiness is spending time with my one and only niece, Bristol. Happiness, my friends, has no monetary value!
On April 5, 2017, Bristol turned the big 1! Prior to the birthday party celebration, my brother, Tyler and I snuck off with Bristol in the yard to get some “Daddy and Me” photographs, since they really don’t have any! He usually works long days and when I’m in town to visit, he’s out of town working! Tyler and his fiancé, Britani, hosted the most adorable princess-themed party for Bristol’s First Birthday and ironically, when everyone showed up at 5pm, Bristol immediately became a grump! (It’s hard being one…) After a quick little nap, she perked right up as she sat on Grandpa Brewer’s lap and all was right in the world. Happiness is watching her with my Dad. I see myself sitting in his lap; smiling, growing, learning and happy. He loves her so much!
It’s amazing to watch little ones grow, especially from afar. They seem 4x bigger every time you see them in person. She’s practically running now. I remember holding her at just 4 days old (that’s because Tyler was demanding of me to come take newborn images of his daughter. I’d say he’s a lucky guy having a photographer in the family!!!) She was the tiniest, most precious thing on the planet. I’ve never seen Tyler look at someone with so much love. I’ve never heard him call anyone “princess,” a word that makes me want to throw up every single time I hear it! I’ve never loved someone so much in my life...She’s brought so much joy to our lives and I’m so glad she’s a part of MY life. Happiness comes in the form of love for us Brewers.
Moral of the story, find love in your life and don’t ever run away from it. It will bring joy, tears, happiness, pain and literally every other single emotion-good or bad. The best part about love is that it prevails over everything else.
I love you, Bristol Marie Brewer and you make me incredibly happy. Don’t ever settle. Grow to have an abundance of self-confidence and self-esteem. Love yourself first and accept love into your heart. Be kind. Don’t judge. Follow your dreams. Travel. Find YOUR happiness (whatever that looks like)…and when you’re on YOUR journey; others do NOT have to understand, for it is YOUR journey, not theirs. I love you BIGGIE! Happy 1st Birthday!
